(a) Nothing contained in this Act shall be construed as depriving the Federal Maritime Board of the exclusive jurisdiction heretofore conferred on it over common carriers engaged in transportation by water between any port in the State of Hawaii and other ports in the United States, or possessions, or as conferring on the Interstate Commerce Commission jurisdiction over transportation by water between any such ports.
“(b) Effective on the admission of the State of Hawaii into the Union—“(1) the first sentence of section 506 of the Merchant Marine Act, 1936 as amended (46 U.S.C. [App.], sec. 1156) [now 46 U.S.C. 53101 note], is amended by inserting before the words ‘an island possession or island territory’, the words ‘the State of Hawaii, or’;
“(2) section 605(a) of the Merchant Marine Act, 1936, as amended (46 U.S.C. [App.], sec. 1175[(a)]) [now 46 U.S.C. 53101 note], is amended by inserting before the words ‘an island possession or island territory’, the words ‘the State of Hawaii, or’; and
“(3) the second paragraph of section 714 of the Merchant Marine Act, 1936, as amended (46 U.S.C. [App.], sec. 1204) [now 46 U.S.C. 57531], is amended by inserting before the words ‘an island possession or island territory’ the words ‘the State of Hawaii, or’. (As amended Pub.
