The NO PROFIT Act (No Preferential Release Of Federal Information for Transactions Act) prohibits individuals from trading securities, commodities, and other financial instruments while possessing nonpublic information obtained through early access to social media posts from government officials. The bill applies to the President, Vice President, Members of Congress, federal employees, judges, and their immediate family members, as well as accounts operated by federal agencies, and extends to individuals for up to 180 days after they leave government service. The legislation also bars social media platforms from offering "prioritized access" to government officials' posts, which would allow certain people to see information before it becomes generally available to the public, with violating platforms facing civil penalties equal to all revenue they received from providing such early access. The Securities and Exchange Commission and Commodity Futures Trading Commission have 180 days after enactment to issue rules implementing the trading prohibition, treating violations as securities or commodities fraud enforceable by these agencies using existing legal authorities.
ResolutionFederalHouseIntroduced
U.S. House of Representatives·Introduced Aug 20, 2026·Referred to the House Committee on Oversight and Government …
Arts, Culture, ReligionSponsored by Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC)
Introduced
This resolution expresses House support for designating August 22, 2026, as "Chuck Brown Day" to honor the life and musical legacy of Chuck Brown, the founding architect of the go-go music genre. Chuck Brown, born on August 22, 1936, and died in 2012, was a longtime District of Columbia resident who created a distinctive musical style blending funk, soul, and Latin influences that became the official music of Washington, D.C. His career spanned over three decades with 22 studio albums, including the 1979 hit "Bustin' Loose" which topped the R&B charts for four weeks, and he earned a Grammy nomination in 2010 and a National Endowment for the Arts fellowship in 2005. The resolution recognizes Brown's influence on generations of musicians and his commitment to D.C. statehood, as well as the city's recognition of his contributions through naming a street and park after him. This is a ceremonial resolution with no funding or enforcement mechanisms; it simply honors Brown's artistic achievements and cultural impact on the nation's capital.
RegulationFederalFinal Rule
Commerce Department·Published Aug 19, 2026·Effective Aug 19, 2026
In this final rule, NMFS is implementing binding recommendations of the International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas (ICCAT) on quotas for North Atlantic swordfish, South Atlantic swordfish, North Atlantic albacore tuna (northern albacore), and Atlantic bluefin tuna, including aspects of the management procedures for North Atlantic swordfish and northern albacore. For bluefin tuna, this action implements the increased U.S. baseline quota adopted by ICCAT in 2025, dividing it among the established regulatory domestic subquota categories, and implements changes to the bluefin tuna quota associated with pelagic longline bycatch adopted by ICCAT in 2025. Finally, this action transfers 30.8 metric tons (mt) of bluefin tuna quota from the Longline category to the Reserve category and temporarily adjusts the baseline quotas for U.S. North and South Atlantic swordfish, northern albacore, and the Atlantic bluefin tuna Reserve category for 2026 based on 2025 underharvests and applicable international quota transfers.

Transportation Department·Published Aug 19, 2026·Comments close Oct 5, 2026
The FAA proposes to adopt a new airworthiness directive (AD) for certain Airbus SAS Model A330-941 airplanes. This proposed AD was prompted by an occurrence of a triple "PRIM FAULT" in the Flight Control Primary Computer (FCPC) at touchdown. This proposed AD would require the installation of a new FCPC standard and applicable concurrent modifications. This proposed AD would also prohibit the installation of certain parts The FAA is proposing this AD to address the unsafe condition on these products.

Transportation Department·Published Aug 19, 2026·Effective Aug 19, 2026
This rule establishes, amends, suspends, or removes Standard Instrument Approach Procedures (SIAPS) and associated Takeoff Minimums and Obstacle Departure procedures (ODPs) for operations at certain airports. These regulatory actions are needed because of the adoption of new or revised criteria, or because of changes occurring in the National Airspace System, such as the commissioning of new navigational facilities, adding new obstacles, or changing air traffic requirements. These changes are designed to provide safe and efficient use of the navigable airspace and to promote safe flight operations under instrument flight rules at the affected airports.
