Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) has raised $14.4 million for his reelection campaign, according to AllCiv, compared with $3.68 million for Democratic challenger Hallie Shoffner. That gives Cotton a nearly 4-to-1 fundraising advantage in a race rated Solid Republican.

The gap is also substantial in available cash. As of Sept. 30, Cotton reported $6.82 million in cash on hand and approximately $85,000 in debt, while Shoffner reported $1.43 million in cash and no debt. Cotton defeated Micah Ashby in the March 3 Republican primary by approximately 72 percentage points, while Shoffner defeated Ethan Dunbar in the Democratic primary by approximately 57 points. Libertarian Jeff Wadlin is also on the general-election ballot.

The candidates' reported donor profiles differ significantly. Homemakers and lawyers each contributed approximately $148,000 to Cotton, followed by CEOs ($138,000) and company presidents ($105,000). These occupational categories indicate substantial support from business executives and legal professionals.

Lawyers led Shoffner's reported occupational donor categories, followed by physicians ($59,000), business owners and consultants ($19,000). Her donor base includes legal, medical, and business professionals.

Donors identified as not employed or retired reportedly accounted for 42% of Cotton's itemized individual contributions ($2.1 million), compared with 52% of Shoffner's ($731,000). Other committees reportedly accounted for 18% of Cotton's receipts, compared with 1% of Shoffner's.

Outside groups have reported about $5.25 million in independent expenditures in Arkansas' Senate race through Oct. 16, including $4.51 million in general-election spending opposing Shoffner and about $741,000 in primary spending primarily supporting Cotton. These expenditures are separate from candidate fundraising totals.

Although fundraising alone does not determine election outcomes, Shoffner had approximately 21% of Cotton's available campaign cash as of Sept. 30, leaving her at a substantial financial disadvantage in an already Republican-leaning state.
