The Vote

One of the busiest federal districts in the country will soon have a new judge. Sen. John Boozman (R-AR) voted on June 24 to confirm John George Edward Marck as judge to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas. Marck is known for his position as former Assistant District Attorney in New York City, and as a prosecutor of cases involving illegal reentry after deportation and cartel-related crimes. The Senate confirmation vote fell almost entirely along party lines, and the nomination passed.

  • Republicans: 52 Yes, 0 No, 1 not voting
  • Democrats: 0 Yes, 43 No, 2 not voting
  • Independents: 0 Yes, 2 No

Boozman voted in line with his party. He has served in the Senate representing Arkansas since 2011. He currently chairs the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry. He has missed 12 votes this Congress, and zero since April.
