The CA-47 House Race
California's 47th congressional district is heading to the general election on November 3, and it's looking like Democrats are set to dominate. Democratic incumbent Dave Min faces Republican challenger Jenny Le Roux after a June 2 primary that saw Min secure 45.4% of the vote and Le Roux advance as the second-place finisher with 25.0%. The district, which contains much of Orange county, is neither historically reliably Democratic or Republican—but if the primary is any indication, Min has nothing to worry about.
The Candidates
Min has represented the California's 47th congressional district in the House since 2025. The child of Korean immigrants, Min is a California native and former California State Senator. Before taking office, Min was a law professor at UC Irvine. He earned his bachelor's from the University of Pennsylvania and his J.D. from Harvard Law School. Min sits on both the House Natural Resources Committee, and the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.
Le Roux is a businesswoman with a B.A. in economics from the University of Virginia and an M.B.A. from Columbia Business School. Endorsed by the Republican Party of Orange County and the OC Congress of Republicans, Le Roux has pledged to "make government more efficient."
The Money Behind the Race
In the primary, Min lead the candidates' financial totals with more than $3.3 million in total receipts, and was followed by Le Roux, who trailed behind with around $375,000 in total receipts. Total outside spending amounted to around $126,000, most of which was donated in support of Min's campaign. The largest donation, of $107,939.70, was made by Protect Progress in support of Min. Other donors included Planned Parenthood, Activate America, and HMP, according to FEC filings.
Ratings vs. Odds
Expert consensus is unanimous: Cook Political Report, Sabato's Crystal Ball, and Inside Elections all rate California's 47th district as "solid Democratic" as of mid-June 2026. Barring any major upset, experts predict that Min will sweep the district.
The prediction markets tell a similar story. As of July 16, Kalshi placed Democrats' (Min's) odds of winning the seat at 95%.
