The Vote
One of the busiest and most important federal districts in the country will soon have a new judge. Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-LA) voted on June 24 to confirm John George Edward Marck as judge to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas. Marck is known for his position as former Assistant District Attorney in New York City, and as a prosecutor of cases involving illegal reentry after deportation and cartel-related crimes. The Senate confirmation vote fell almost entirely along party lines, and the nomination passed.

- Democrats: 0 Yes, 43 No, 2 not voting
- Independents: 0 Yes, 2 No
Cassidy voted yes, in line with his party. He has served in the Senate since 2015 and has missed 47 votes this Congress. Cassidy has missed three votes since April.
