The Vote
One of the busiest federal districts in the country will soon have a new judge, despite the efforts of Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA). Warner voted against the confirmation of John George Edward Marck as judge to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas on June 24. Marck is known for his position as former Assistant District Attorney in New York City, and as a prosecutor of cases involving illegal reentry after deportation and cartel-related crimes. The Senate confirmation vote fell almost entirely along party lines, and the nomination passed.

Warner voted no, in line with his party. He has represented Virginia in the Senate since 2009 and has missed 38 votes this Congress. Warner has missed 21 votes since April.
