The Vote
One of the busiest and most important federal districts in the country will soon have a new judge. Sen. Roger Wicker (R-MS) joined every other Senate Republican and voted on June 24 to confirm John George Edward Marck as judge to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas. Marck is known for his position as former Assistant District Attorney in New York City, and as a prosecutor of cases involving illegal reentry after deportation and cartel-related crimes. The Senate confirmation vote fell almost entirely along party lines, and the nomination passed.

- Independents: 0 Yes, 2 No
Wicker, who has served in the Senate since 2008, has missed 31 votes this Congress. He has missed one vote since April.
