The Winner

Amanda Green won Florida's 2nd Congressional District Democratic primary Tuesday, capturing a third of the vote in a crowded field, but her path to Congress just got a lot harder.

Green, who ran unopposed by any incumbent, beat three other candidates in the Aug. 18 primary. Now she advances to the November general election in a district that leans heavily Republican.

The Election

The numbers tell the story: Prediction markets give Republicans a 91% chance of winning the seat come November, compared to just 9% for Democrats. The district is rated Solid Republican, meaning it's been a GOP stronghold.

Green's primary opponents (Yen Bailey, Brice Barnes and Nicholas Zateslo) all fell short. The open-seat race drew a competitive Democratic field, but Green emerged on top with 33.5% of the vote.

The general election is set for Nov. 3. Republican Neal Patrick Dunn currently represents the district.
