The Winner
If you live in Texas's 3rd U.S. House District, you will continue to be represented in Congress by Keith Self (R-TX), who has been declared the winner of the congressional race, according to the Associated Press, which called the race on Nov. 3. Unofficial election returns show Self receiving 169,243 votes, or 52.7%, compared with 151,667 votes, or 47.3%, for Democrat Evan Hunt.
Self's victory keeps the district in Republican hands, even as Democrats prepare to take control of the U.S. House in January. His approximately 5.5-percentage-point victory came in a district rated Solid Republican, highlighting the competitiveness of a race expected to favor the incumbent more comfortably.
