The Winner

If you live in Utah's 4th U.S. House District, you will now be represented in Congress by Mike Kennedy (R), who has been declared the winner of the 2026 congressional race, according to the Associated Press.

The Associated Press called the race on Nov. 5, two days after the Nov. 3 general election, and vote counting was still underway.

The seat stays in Republican hands, with Kennedy moving from Utah's 3rd Congressional District to represent the newly drawn 4th District, which opened after incumbent Burgess Owens did not seek reelection.

The Race

Democrat Jonny Larsen won the June 23 Democratic primary, the only candidate on that ballot. Cook Political Report rated the seat Solid Republican heading into Election Day; Sabato's Crystal Ball and Inside Elections each rated it Solid Republican as well, as of Nov. 3.

The district covers parts of the south end of Salt Lake County, north Utah County, and Tooele, Millard, and Sevier counties, according to Utah News Dispatch. According to geographic data for the district, Utah's 4th Congressional District has a total population of about 872,500, a median household income of about $106,600, and a median age of about 31.

About 35.6 percent of adults hold a bachelor's degree or higher; the district's population is about 76.5 percent white, 17.3 percent Hispanic, 2.6 percent Asian, and 1.3 percent Black, with an unemployment rate of about 3.6 percent and about 6.1 percent of residents living below the poverty line.
