Who's In the Race
Rep. Susie Lee (D-NV) faces Republican Marty O'Donnell and Independent American Party candidate Jon Kamerath in the Nov. 3 general election in Nevada's 3rd District.
Lee has represented the district since 2019 and, before Congress, led Communities In Schools of Nevada, a nonprofit focused on student success. She won the Democratic primary with about 69 percent of the vote over James Lally.
O'Donnell is a composer and musician with a master's degree in music composition from the University of Southern California who has not previously held elected office. He won the Republican primary with about 42 percent of the vote over Tera Anderson.
Kamerath is a practical nurse running on the Independent American Party ticket.
What They Stand For
Lee has backed efforts to increase affordable housing and address Nevada's housing shortage, according to her official House website. She's also supported:
- Expanding access to quality, affordable health care,
- Federal investment in local water infrastructure and protecting Southern Nevada's water supply,
- Lowering costs and creating good-paying jobs in Southern Nevada; and
- Protecting public lands and parks from threats.
O'Donnell's campaign says he wants a resilient economy that prioritizes American workers, and it lists securing the border, expanding opportunity, and federal spending and debt among his priorities.
The Money Behind the Race
Susie Lee raised about $4.4 million and had about $3.7 million in the bank through June 30, according to Federal Election Commission filings. Marty O'Donnell raised about $4.1 million and had about $2.4 million in the bank through June 30; he carried about $3 million in debt, a sum that equals nearly three-quarters of his total receipts.
Outside spending in the race totaled about $61,000 as of Oct. 13, with about $60,000 of that supporting Tera Anderson, a Republican who did not advance from the primary. Planned Parenthood Votes spent about $651 opposing O'Donnell.
