Who's In the Race

Rep. Maggie Goodlander (D-NH) faces Republican Lily Tang Williams in the Nov. 3 general election in New Hampshire's 2nd congressional district. The contest includes a rematch of 2024, when Goodlander defeated Williams.

Goodlander has represented the district since 2025 and served 11 years as an intelligence officer in the U.S. Navy Reserve; she was born and raised in Nashua. She won the Democratic primary with about 82 percent of the vote.

Williams is an entrepreneur and former town Supervisor of the Checklist in Weare; she was born in Chengdu, China, and holds degrees from Fudan University and the University of Texas. She won the Republican primary with about 65 percent of the vote.

Mahrou is an independent candidate with a business background.

What They Stand For

Goodlander has proposed extending the health-insurance open-enrollment period to help families access affordable coverage, according to her official House website. She's also supported:

  • Expanding access to affordable health care and prescription drugs,
  • Addressing housing affordability as a central cost-of-living concern, calling housing "the cornerstone of the American Dream"; and
  • Tackling childcare and energy costs alongside housing and health care.

Williams has proposed a balanced-budget amendment and national constitutional carry, with an emphasis on federal spending cuts, according to her campaign website. She's also supported:

  • Lowering the cost of living and improving affordability,
  • Strengthening border security,
  • An "America First" foreign policy; and
  • Protecting freedom of speech and Second Amendment rights.

Mahrou's campaign highlights affordability, housing access, and expanding health-care services, according to WMUR.
