Republican incumbent Austin Scott faces Democratic challenger Kelly Esti in Georgia's 8th U.S. House District general election. Scott ran unopposed in the Republican primary on May 19, drawing 72,008 votes. Esti won the Democratic primary that same day with 53.5 percent of the vote, defeating Justin Lucas 23,802 to 20,708.
What They Stand For
Scott, the incumbent Republican, won the district in 2022 and 2024, and refers to himself as a committed conservative. Esti's campaign website says she supports federal programs that expand access to education, affordable learning, and workforce development funding. She also supports federal labor standards, enforcement of workplace protections, and economic policies addressing the needs of workers and employers.

Race Outlook: Ratings and Betting Markets
The Cook Political Report rated Georgia's 8th Congressional District race Solid Republican as of Sept. 25, as did Sabato's Crystal Ball as of Sept. 29 and Inside Elections as of Oct. 2.
Prediction market Kalshi put the Republican's probability of winning at 95.2 percent and the Democrat's at 4.8 percent as of Oct. 5.
Scott carried the district with 68.6 percent in 2022 and 68.9 percent in 2024. The records list nine winners from the Republican Party and six from the Democratic Party. In the 2024 presidential race, Republican Donald J. Trump carried Georgia with 50.7 percent of the vote.
