From Intern to Press Secretary
Raven Calloway has joined Rep. Nellie Pou's (D-NJ-9) office as Press Secretary and Digital Director, according to staffing records. The position began on June 1.
Calloway brings more than three years of congressional experience, having worked in various capacities for Rep. Marilyn Strickland (D-WA). The staffer served as an intern in Strickland's office before moving into digital media roles, including stints as Digital Media Assistant, Digital Media Manager, and Digital Manager.
The Office She Works In
Rep. Pou represents New Jersey's 9th congressional district and serves on several House committees focused on infrastructure and security. The Democrat sits on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and the House Homeland Security Committee. Within Transportation and Infrastructure, Pou serves on three subcommittees: Aviation, Highways and Transit, and Water Resources and Environment. On the Homeland Security side, Pou serves on the Counterterrorism and Intelligence Subcommittee.
Pou has introduced legislation spanning transportation, worker safety, trade, and consumer protection. The member sponsored the HOLDBACKS Act, which requires primary ticket sellers to disclose the total number of tickets available, the number of performances, and complete ticket costs at least seven days in advance. The bill prohibits ticket sellers from withholding available tickets to artificially inflate prices and applies to sports events, concerts, theater performances, and other public venues.
