The Winner
If you live in Georgia’s 7th Congressional District, Rep. Rich McCormick (R-GA) will keep representing you in Congress. The Associated Press called the race for him at 9:32 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 3, with about 98% of the vote counted, FOX 5 Atlanta reported.
McCormick had 55.4% of the vote to Democrat Tony Kozycki’s 44.6% in the latest unofficial count, a margin of about 11 points, according to Ballotpedia’s results for the race. The win keeps the seat in Republican hands.
The Race
Kozycki earned the Democratic nomination in a June 16 runoff, beating Case Norton with 67.7% of the vote after no candidate won a majority in the May 19 primary. Cook Political Report and Inside Elections rated the race Solid Republican, and Sabato’s Crystal Ball rated it Safe Republican.
What’s Next
The count isn’t final until Georgia certifies it, so the totals may still shift. McCormick’s new term begins Jan. 3, 2027, and the seat is on the ballot again in 2028.
