Show Us the Money

Sam Wang, the Democratic candidate for New Jersey's 12th U.S. House District, has raised $465,174 in his 2026 campaign finance effort. Individual donors provided $354,706 of that total. Wang loaned his campaign $110,000, which remains an outstanding debt. He also made a $100 personal contribution. So far, he has spent $294,285 and has $170,889 in cash on hand.

Wang's fundraising relies almost entirely on individual contributions. His campaign received no money from political action committees or party committees. Outside organizational contributions totaled zero. The candidate's own $110,000 loan is the second-largest funding source after individual donations, making this a largely self-funded and grassroots effort.

Candidate Rankings

New Jersey candidates combined raised roughly $295.2 million in the 2026 cycle. Wang's total represents less than 0.2% of that statewide figure. Among Democratic candidates in the state, 60 are running and have raised a combined $56,029,567. Republican candidates, all 21 of them, raised $8,522,263 combined.

New Jersey Senate fundraiser Cory A. Booker leads the state with $17,623,906 in total receipts and $22,600,144 in cash on hand, far outpacing House candidates. Josh Gottheimer in the 5th District has raised $3,468,842 and holds $11,553,158 in cash, placing him among the state's top congressional fundraisers.

Incumbents vs. Challengers

Wang is running for an open seat in the 12th District, meaning no incumbent is on the ballot. Across New Jersey's 2026 congressional races, incumbents generally hold significant financial advantages over challengers and open-seat candidates, a pattern typical in federal elections.
