The Vote

One of the busiest and most important federal districts in the country will soon have a new judge. Sen. Tim Sheehy (R-MT) voted to confirm John George Edward Marck as judge to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas on June 24. Marck is known for his position as former Assistant District Attorney in New York City, and as a prosecutor of cases involving illegal reentry after deportation and cartel-related crimes. The Senate confirmation vote fell almost entirely along party lines, and the nomination passed.

  • Republicans: 52 Yes, 0 No, 1 not voting
  • Democrats: 0 Yes, 43 No, 2 not voting
  • Independents: 0 Yes, 2 No

Sheehy voted yes, in line with his party. He has represented Montana in the Senate since just 2024. He has missed 24 votes this Congress, and two since April.
