The Vote
One of the busiest federal districts in the country will soon have a new judge. Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-GA) voted on June 24 against the confirmation of John George Edward Marck as judge to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas. Marck is known for his position as former Assistant District Attorney in New York City, and as a prosecutor of cases involving illegal reentry after deportation and cartel-related crimes. The district he will take charge of deals with many immigration and cartel-related cases, in part due to its proximity to the Texas-Mexico border. The Senate confirmation vote fell almost entirely along party lines, and the nomination passed.

Warnock voted no, in line with his party. He has represented Georgia in the Senate since January 2021. He has missed 24 votes this Congress, and four since April.
