American friends of nishmat (AFN) is committed to building a community of influential jewish women scholars, educators and leaders. Sponsors advanced study of classical jewish texts, such as bible and talmud, for women in the u.s. And israel, provides scholarships for disadvantaged students who are the first in their families to obtain advanced education, and supports lectures, classes and discussion centered on study of classic texts.
