The agency is one of eleven AREA agencies on aging in the state of florida providing assistance for the development, planning and administration of service programs for the elderly. The agency's service AREA includes charlotte, collier, desoto, glades, hendry, LEE and sarasota counties. The agency is responsible for developing an AREA plan and subgranting federal and state funds to direct providers of services for older persons to acheive the plan goals.
