About

Founded in 1914, heartshare human services is dedicated to new YORK city's most vulnerable, empowering people with autism and other developmental disabilities to reach their full potential through education, vocational training, the arts, housing, family support and long-term therapy services. This work is carried out through more than 120 programs, supporting over 2,500 people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (i/DD). These numbers rise significantly when one thinks about the family members who are also helped through the work of heartshare. Heartshare offers a person-first, continuum of care for ANY person who enters into the heartshare ecosystem of services. This is accomplished through preschool special education, adult day, prevocational and employment programs, community programming, respite recreation services, family support services (children's evaluations, family reimbursement) and 24 hour and NON-24 hour residential programs.
