Medstar health research institute (the research institute) is the research ARM for medstar health, providing scientific, administrative, and regulatory support for research programs that complement the key clinical services and teaching programs in ALL hospitals in the system. The research institute supports clinical research performed by attending medical staff, and full-time research investigators. The research institute and its investigators provide patients access to the latest clinical trials, cutting-EDGE diagnostics, and innovative therapies while discovering new ways to treat people through health services and clinical research. With more than 1,000 active research studies and clinical trials conducted across 40 different care sites and 1,200 PEER-reviewed publications in fiscal year 2023, the research institute's portfolio includes clinical and investigative work across clinical service lines including cardiovascular, oncology, diabetes, orthopaedics, rehabilitation, critical care and women's health and safety.
