It provides timely translations of Arabic, Farsi, Urdu, and Pashtu, as well as Russian, media and other open sources print, broadcast, and online, including social media, sermons, and schoolbooks as well as original analyses of political, ideological, intellectual, social, cultural, and religious trends in the Middle East. Founded in December 1997 to inform the debate over U.S. policy in the Middle East, MEMRI is an independent, nonpartisan, nonprofit organization headquartered in Washington, DC.
