Norwescap is a private nonprofit corporation established in 1965, with a mission to create opportunities for low-income individuals and families throughout northwestern new jersey. Our vision is to help build a community that transforms poverty into opportunity. Throughout northwestern new jersey, we provide a comprehensive array of strategies, programs and services that fall into SIX domains or categories of support: education; employment; financial empowerment; health & nutrition; housing & community development; and volunteerism & civic engagement. The organization was established in 1965 as part of a nationwide network of 'community action programs, or CAP agencies, supported by federal programs and resources created by the johnson administration to combat poverty.
