A. Preserve and protect open space through the acquisition of real property and/or through the holding of conservation easements; b. Support agricultural diversity, agricultural economic development, environmental quality and the retention of the unique agrarian and cultural heritage in the commonwealth of virginia;c. Encourage improved cooperation, mutual respect and support among citizens, organizations and governments towards sound land use planning for the protection of cherished landscape and natural resources; and d. Educate the public regarding the environment and need for preservation of the environment through convservation easements and other means to preserve open space and natural resources.
