Neighbors helping neighbors 25,556 individuals reached 2,531 neighbors volunteered over 70,000 hours our tagline truly does SAY it ALL - neighbors helping neighbors. In 1975, people's resource center (PRC) was started by a group of concerned residents who wanted to bring neighbors together to address and prevent hunger. They handed out BAGS of groceries through the basement window of a house in wheaton. Over five decades of community building, PRC has grown into a multiservice agency focused on interwoven services and tools that support and strengthen more than 7,000 families each year. Our guests CAN access food, clothing, financial assistance, RENT and mortgage assistafresh produce, LEAN proteins, nutritious grains, and household items in person and at curbside as well as through delivery. In nearly 50 years of operating food access programs, we have worked with our community to understand and address the challenges they face to reach their potential. As a result, our food access programs have become a critical bridge to other programs such as computer training and technology access, financial assistance, social services support, clothing, job search mentoring, art enrichment, and educational programming. ALL PRC services are provided at no cost to dupage county residents. Our programs are designed for lower-income neighbors and are made possible by the generous support of the community through volunteering, in-kind donations, and financial support. PRC connects neighbors to services and opportunities that CAN support their well-being and stability, especially in times of crisis. The people's resource center community exists to respond to basic human needs, promote dignity and justice, and create a future of hope and opportunity for the residents of dupage county, illinois.
