The Mission of PHAB is to advance and transform public health practice by championing performance improvement, strong infrastructure, and innovation for a vision of a high-performing governmental public health system that supports people living their healthiest lives. As of December 18, 2024, a total of 42 states, 330 local, 6 Tribal, 1 statewide integrated local public health department system (Florida + 67 Counties), and 5 Army Installation Departments of Public Health and 1 international country (Qatar) have achieved five-year initial accreditation or reaccreditation through the Public Health Accreditation Board, bringing the benefits of PHAB accreditation to 90 percent of the U.S. population. Additionally, 5 Vital Records and Health Statistic Units were accredited.
