Organization's mission southwest transplant alliance, INC. ("STA") is a texas not-for-profit corporation that is recognized as TAX exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code and is also classified as a public charity under section 509(a)(2) of the internal revenue code. Southwest transplant alliance is an organ donation agency, and has an agreement with the federal government's department of health and human services to function as the organ procurement organization(OPO) for approximately 37% of the state of texas. As an OPO, STA has agreements with ALL of the hospitals in our service AREA to recover and distribute donated human organs and tissues for transplantation in texas and throughout the united states. Southwest transplant alliance's mission is to save and improve lives through organ and tissue transplantation. To that END, in 2022 STA procured 1,416 organs that were recovered from 483 organ donors. From the dallas metropolitan AREA, and throughout our service AREA. Without the life saving organs recovered by STA, these organ recipients would have either not survived or would have to continue to exist enduring dialysis treatments to keep them alive. The transplants facilitated through donations to STA give new life and new hope to hundreds of texans and americans every year. Additionally, STA works with approved research programs at institutions like the university of texas southwestern medical center and baylor university medical center by providing donated tissues and organs for research studies to improve and advance the knowledge and treatment of various diseases and health conditions. Since its inception in 1974, STA has provided life saving or health restoring organs, tissue and eye donations to TENS of thousands of patients throughout texas and the united states.
