Dan Johnston is a Republican member of the North Dakota House of Representatives, representing District 24. He was first elected in 2016 and lives in Kathryn with his wife Wendi, with whom he has eight children. In 2020, he sought the Republican nomination for North Dakota State Treasurer, running against fellow state representative Thomas Beadle; the state convention that year was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and Johnston's candidacy, endorsed by ND Right to Life, former state treasurer Kelly Schmidt, Senator Kevin Cramer, and President Donald Trump, lost to Beadle in the June primary.
