Liz Stefanics is a Democratic member of the New Mexico Senate, representing District 39 since January 2017. Born November 9, 1950, in Dayton, she attended the University of Wisconsin–Madison, the University of Minnesota Law School, and Eastern Kentucky University. She previously served on the Santa Fe County Commission and earlier held a single term in the New Mexico legislature beginning in January 1993, during which she became the first openly LGBT member of the state legislature.
