Born in Illinois in 1965, she previously served a term in the state House from 2017 to 2021 before running unsuccessfully for Washington's 10th congressional district in 2020, placing second in the primary and losing the general election to Marilyn Strickland. In 2022 she ran again for the 22nd district seat, succeeding retiring representative Laurie Dolan.
