Health Savings Account Expansion Act of 2009 - Amends Internal Revenue Code provisions relating to health savings accounts (HSAs) to: (1) eliminate the high deductible health plan coverage requirement for HSA participants; (2) eliminate the prohibition against purchasing health insurance from an HSA; and (3) increase to $8,000 the maximum dollar amount of the tax deduction for payments to an HSA.
Eliminates after 2009 the tax exclusions for employee benefits under an employer-provided accident or health plan and the tax deductions for the health insurance costs of self-employed individuals, for medical and dental expenses, and for employer payments for employee medical care.
