Supports: (1) targeting federal programs to communities most in need; (2) extending the Emergency Unemployment Compensation program and the Extended Benefits unemployment benefits programs; (3) giving those who have exhausted their unemployment benefits an additional 14 weeks of benefits; (4) expanding on-the-job training for unemployed workers; (5) investing in education at all levels; and (6) investing in improving and modernizing the nation's infrastructure, including the rebuilding of bridges, roads, schools, and other crumbling infrastructure.
Encourages: (1) the restoration of the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families Emergency Contingency Fund; (2) the development and implementation of various corps programs and services in the communities, including health care corps, public safety corps, community corps, and teacher corps; and (3) the expansion of Workforce Investment Act programs aimed at youth.
