Protecting against Opioid Prescription-abuse during Prenatal Year Study Act or the POPPY Study Act
This bill requires the Department of Health and Human Services to submit a report to Congress that includes details regarding:
opioid prescribing practices for pregnant women, recommendations for identifying and reducing opioid misuse during pregnancy, prescription opioid use and misuse during pregnancy in urban and rural areas, the use of non-opioid pain management practices in place of prescription opioids during pregnancy, guidelines encouraging the use of non-opioid pain management practices during pregnancy when safe and effective, and recommendations for increasing public awareness and education regarding opioid use disorder in pregnancy.
