This bill requires the Department of Veterans Affairs to hire an outside organization to review doctors and medical professionals in the Veterans Health Administration who had their licenses terminated for cause by a state board for care provided at non-VA facilities. Within 180 days of the bill's enactment, the VA must enter into a contract with a third party to conduct quality reviews of these healthcare providers. If a review determines that a covered provider failed to meet the standard of care during treatment, the VA must notify the affected veteran about the substandard care they received. The bill defines covered providers as VA-appointed healthcare workers whose medical licenses were terminated for cause by state regulators based on care they provided outside the VA system.
