This bill would speed up how quickly members of Congress and certain federal employees must disclose their stock transactions. Currently, these officials have up to 45 days to report a stock trade after being notified of the disclosure requirement. The Timely Stock Disclosure Act would cut this deadline to 30 days maximum, with reports due within 15 days of receiving notification whenever possible. The changes would take effect 90 days after the bill becomes law and apply to periodic transaction reports under federal ethics disclosure rules. The bill also includes a technical correction to fix a formatting error in the existing statute.
