The Promoting Fairness for Medicare Providers Act of 2024 extends Medicare payment coverage to high-cost surgical procedures performed in physician offices, beginning in 2025. The legislation also caps patient out-of-pocket costs for these office-based procedures at the annual inpatient hospital deductible amount, with Medicare covering any costs exceeding that cap. Beginning in 2026, the Secretary of Health and Human Services must annually review and update which procedures qualify based on supply costs, ensuring the policy stays current with changing medical technology and pricing.
