This bill establishes a new Department of Homeland Security Northern Border Mission Center within one year of passage to coordinate security operations along the U.S.-Canada border and the maritime border between Alaska and Russia. The Center will be located at an existing Border Patrol facility and will collocate personnel from U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the Coast Guard, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and other federal agencies to improve information sharing, training, and domain awareness in northern border regions. The Center will test border security technologies, coordinate air and maritime operations including monitoring of unmanned aircraft systems, and identify resource and technology challenges facing the northern border. The bill requires annual reports to Congress on the Center's activities and needs but provides no new funding, requiring it to operate within existing budgets. The Center is set to automatically expire on October 1, 2027.
