The Secret Service Prioritization Act of 2024 would transfer most federal law enforcement responsibilities from the U.S. Secret Service to the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The bill provides a 30-day transition period after enactment for the FBI to prepare for the transfer, during which existing Secret Service employees, assets, and contracts would be transferred to the FBI with assistance from other federal agencies. All pending cases, administrative actions, and legal proceedings would continue under the same terms, and current employees would be able to join the FBI under streamlined hiring procedures.
