The Show Up to Work Act would restrict federal employee telework by limiting it to no more than 25 percent of workdays per pay period, which would require employees to work in their offices at least three days per week. All telework arrangements would need to be reviewed quarterly and approved by each agency head, and any exceptions to the 25 percent limit would require written certification from the agency head to Congress explaining how the additional remote work would improve efficiency and performance. The bill does not create any enforceable right for employees to telework and gives agency heads authority to impose even stricter telework policies than what the legislation establishes. No new funding is required for implementation. The changes would take effect 180 days after the bill becomes law if enacted.
