The bill makes citizenship or permanent resident status a requirement for receiving child tax credits, earned income tax credits, federal student financial aid, and subsidized health insurance. It also restricts benefits for Head Start, WIC, and school meals by making children ineligible if their parents have certain immigration statuses. Additionally, the bill prevents federal emergency funds from supporting immigrants with these statuses and cuts educational funding by 50 percent to "sanctuary jurisdictions" that limit immigration enforcement cooperation.
Other provisions eliminate special protections for Haitian immigrants, restrict housing loans and assistance to citizens and permanent residents, and prohibit tax-exempt organizations and Community Development Block Grant recipients from using federal funds to assist immigrants with certain legal statuses.
