This bill requires the State Department to track and report the costs associated with producing reports that it distributes to Congress and the public. Starting in October 2026, individual reports must include their estimated production costs and the number of personnel hours required to create them. Additionally, beginning with fiscal year 2025, the State Department must submit an annual report to Congress listing all reports issued, their frequency, total estimated costs, and personnel hours for a four-year period. The legislation aims to increase transparency about how much time and money the State Department spends on its various reporting obligations.
