# Clean Commute for Kids Act of 2024
This bill reauthorizes and expands the EPA's Clean School Bus program, which provides grants and rebates to help school districts replace diesel buses with zero-emission electric buses. The program will award up to 100 percent of costs for purchasing electric school buses, installing charging infrastructure, and related training and equipment. Eligible recipients include public school districts, charter schools, tribal organizations, and private contractors, with priority given to districts serving low-income areas, high-poverty schools, communities of color, and areas with poor air quality. The bill requires manufacturers seeking to sell buses through the program to submit detailed "U.S. Jobs Plans" showing wage commitments, workforce diversity goals, and labor compliance records, with semiannual reporting requirements. Funding is authorized at $2 billion annually for fiscal years 2025-2026 and $3 billion annually for fiscal years 2027-2032. The legislation also mandates a study on electric bus pricing, establishes a technical assistance program for school districts and utilities, and requires worker protections including prevailing wage standards for all funded work.
