This resolution recognizes November 2024 as National Family Caregivers Month to honor the contributions of America's family caregivers. According to the resolution, over 53 million family caregivers in the United States provide unpaid care worth an estimated $600 billion annually to people with chronic illnesses, disabilities, and elderly relatives. The resolution acknowledges that family caregivers, who are disproportionately women of color and grandparents raising grandchildren, face significant challenges including financial strain, physical exhaustion, and isolation. The House calls on federal agencies, states, and the private sector to implement the 2022 National Strategy to Support Family Caregivers and urges investment in specific support policies such as tax credits, paid family and medical leave, respite care, home and community-based services, and access to quality health care.
