Providing for congressional disapproval under chapter 8 of title 5, United States Code, of the proposed rule submitted by the Office of Refugee Resettlement of the Administration for Children and Families of the Department of Health and Human Services relating to the Unaccompanied Children Program Foundational Rule.
This joint resolution uses congressional disapproval authority to block a new rule by the Department of Health and Human Services' Office of Refugee Resettlement that would have changed how unaccompanied immigrant children are placed, cared for, and provided services. The proposed rule, published in the Federal Register on April 30, 2024, would have updated foundational regulations governing the Unaccompanied Children Program. If passed, this resolution would prevent the rule from taking effect and eliminate any legal force it might have. The bill was introduced by Representative Tom McClintock and ten other House members and referred to the House Judiciary Committee.
