This bill increases federal funding for aviation workforce development programs to address shortages of skilled workers in the aviation industry. It expands existing grant programs to include a new focus on aviation manufacturing technical workers and extends the authorization period through 2029, allocating $10 million annually for each of three grant programs: pilot and aerospace engineer training, unmanned aircraft systems operators, and aviation maintenance and manufacturing technical workers. Additionally, the bill requires the FAA Administrator to develop a national strategic plan within one year to address projected aviation workforce shortages and make recommendations for related legislation and regulations.
