The AIR Security Act prohibits U.S. airports from using federal airport improvement grant funds to purchase passenger boarding bridges and related equipment from companies that have violated intellectual property rights of American entities or have connections to China's government. The bill requires the U.S. Trade Representative, Attorney General, and Federal Aviation Administration to create and maintain a publicly available list of banned companies within 30 days of the law's enactment, with updates at least every 90 days for the first six months and annually thereafter. The restrictions apply to any entity that is owned or subsidized by China, has been found by a federal court to have stolen intellectual property from U.S. companies, or has received funding or partnership agreements from Chinese-connected entities. This legislation affects airport operators and manufacturers of airport infrastructure while protecting federal grant funds from supporting companies engaged in intellectual property theft or with ties to Chinese government control.
