This bill directs the Department of Defense to create an educational outreach program about the health risks of toxic exposure from burn pits for military service members who work near them. Within 180 days of the law's enactment, the Secretary of Defense must develop a new risk assessment for burn pit exposure and establish an outreach program to inform affected service members about these risks and the benefits and support programs available to them. The department must promote this program through direct mail, email, text messaging, and social media to reach service members assigned to work near burn pits. Within one year, the Department of Defense must publish a comprehensive list of resources on its website for service members, veterans, their dependents, caregivers, and survivors who have experienced toxic exposure. The bill does not specify new funding but requires coordination between the Department of Defense and the Department of Veterans Affairs to implement these education and outreach requirements.
