This information would be published publicly online in a searchable format, broken down by individual healthcare facility. The bill also allows the government to audit participating hospitals to verify how they use program savings and gives the Secretary of Health and Human Services authority to impose financial penalties on facilities that fail to comply with these reporting requirements. Reporting would begin within about 14 months after enactment, and HHS must issue rules implementing the law within 180 days of passage.
